Input Form Shortcut Keys

In the First... column:

  • Focus indicates that the cursor must be on the field or subfield for which you want to perform the specified operation. A colored border/colored background — blue/yellow in the standard application — indicates the current position of your cursor.
  • Highlight indicates that the focus must be in the field or subfield with data, and you have held down the left mouse button to swipe the string of data.

In the Input Form Operation column, reference is made to these graphic objects:

recall and edit the authority record for values in a dynamically generated listbox
request a Picklist of authority database terms and...

 

(post-selection/validation) open for an information alert message

 

(post-selection/validation) open for an error alert message
Input Form Operation First... and then:
Copy text Highlight Ctrl-C
Cut text to use with Ctrl-V, to paste into another field or subfield Highlight

Note: Do not use the right-click menu option for Cut.

Delete an occurrence Focus Alt-D
Erase text in a field or subfield Highlight Delete key
Insert occurrence above (in a repeating field) Focus Alt-J
Insert occurrence below (in a repeating field) Focus Alt-K
Invoke Undo (after a change) or a Redo -- Alt-Z and Alt-Y
Move the position of an occurrence up within a repeating field Focus Alt-↑ (as many times as necessary)
Move the position of an occurrence down within a repeating field Focus Alt-↓ (as many times as necessary)
Move cursor to the next field or subfield Focus

ENTER

Note: In a field using the rich-text control, ENTER starts a new paragraph (to be used only in long-text fields). Use TAB to exit the field.

Move cursor from one object to another Focus TAB

...and open a Picklist, Listbox authority record, or Alert message box with the focus on the graphic

Focus ENTER

..and recall a Listbox authority record from the listbox field (without first TABbing to the graphic)

Move cursor to the next occurrence in a repeating field Focus

Note: In the "last" occurrence, the cursor will be moved through each subfield.
